Melaka, oh Melaka... (Jonker Street & Nadeje Crepe)

Hello Lovelies.... Appologies for the looong hiatus. I was sick and away for awhile... (Sulk!)

The past weekend, Feerio and me decided to take a short 2 days break, away from the city and the malls... I think my sickness is some sort of sign for us to de-stress. We choose Melaka as it is not that far from Kelana Jaya. Roughly about 150 km one way.

The first Tourist spot: The Jonker Walk. I went crazy here coz i manage to find variety unique goods here. I love the local tee shirt place, the cendol, the laksa, the phone casings.. everything just caught my eyes... Pfft...

The reason why i want to go to Melaka at the first place was i want to try and experience the handmade soap shop, Sweet Summer Cottage.

Yes! I made it...

We bought 3 handmade soaps. Here are the explanation on each soap as it's labelled.

1) Chocolate Mint
A soap blend with cocoa powder with peppermint essential oils. Peppermint essential oils stimulate the mind. We used cocoa butter and cocoa powder which is a natural antioxidant which softens and helps safeguard your priceless skin. For the green minty colour, it's deep sea mud; they provide nutrients and minerals that are beneficial to our skin. It's refreshing and good to use after a hot day outside.

My view: Definitely with the tingling sensation. I used it on a cold morning and with cold water.. brrrrrr.... The scent reminded me of After Eight mint chocolate. Not too overpowering.

2) Honey Milk
Milk and honey are two powers of skin nourishers. Milk enriches with protein and Vitamin A, B and C that need for promoting healthy skin. Honey has the ability to attract and retain moisture.

My view: The scent smells sweet, like something you'll eat for breakfast. It lingers in my bathroom for couple of hours.

3) Black Charcoal
Black charcoal (Binchotan) has wonderful properties to help with oily skin. The charcoal gently draws out toxic impurities and pollution that can clog pores and cause acne, while the organic oils moisturise, renew and balance your skin.

My view: It has lemongrass scent to it. A very mild scent compared to the other 3 soaps..

4) Jasmine Flower (free trial size soap)
My view: The scent is strong, a bit too much for me. Very jasmine-ish, i don't quite like it but i'll use it for its beneficial properties.

Overall, all of these soaps smell wonderful. It lathers well, leaves skin feeling soft, not drying and the scent stays for a good couple of hours. I like the fact that it is handmade, use natural ingredients, no chemical additives such as foaming agents and preservatives. Plus, it is also environmental friendly. Yippi!!!

In order to avoid wastage of the soap, avoid the soap from constantly in contact with water and store in a dry place. Sweet Summer Cottage is my substitute to Lush soaps at the moment (Lush is not available in Malaysia except on the internet). I will definitely be back to purchase more... Smiley...

Late, late Dinner by the river.

On the next day, we went to Nadeje Crepe Cake.

The queue was super long. Good thing we arrived earlier from the crowd. We managed to skip the queue and place our order. I specifically want to sit outside eventhough it was scorching hot outside.... Ngeee.... The tables inside were fully occupied anyway....

While waiting for our Original crepe and Berry crepe...

Let's see what the fuss is all about. I picked the Original as it is their best seller and Feerio tried the Berry one. From the info from the lady at the counter, this cake must be consume within 30 mins and after that it will start to melt. I experienced that and it is not an appetising sight... The cakes are ok but i prefer the Berry one as i feel the Original is too plain for my liking. The coffees, either the Caramel Latte or Caramel cinno, were too much for us. They were strong and both of us did not finish our drinks.... Us? The Coffee Lovers?... Doesn't make sense, i know...

What a memorable trip. We definitely enjoy it..

Mental note : i want to go to Melaka again ... Very soon i hope :)
